Our Qualifications... SET was founded under the premises of providing schools, universities and other athletic based entities with a source of expertise when looking for a design professional to assist in the design and construction management of outdoor sporting venues. As a Licensed Engineering Firm, we offer a combination of over thirteen years of Civil Engineering experience and over eight years of specific experience in the design and management of outdoor sports venues, with over 70 venues engineered to date.
The Scope of Work for outdoor sporting venues, i.e. soil stabilization, earthwork, compaction, drainage, gradations, etc. falls within the expertise of Civil Engineering. SET is a licensed Civil Engineering Firm. Additionally, Sports Engineering is a highly specialized discipline of Civil Engineering and can only be developed by experience in the field. SET’s history of catering exclusively to this industry enables us to create contract documents that are neutral with respect to the many contractors and that are based upon years of hands on experience. The end result is a maximization of competition which allows the school to get the best available price while at the same time ensuring that the construction process will yield a quality field.
Another important advantage of employing a Design Professional with extensive experience is that you will have someone in place who knows the pitfalls of the industry and how to deal with them. The very nature of these projects makes them difficult. They are very high profile in a given community, they demand near perfection in their workmanship as the entire finished product is visible and will be highly scrutinized, they have relatively short construction windows, and in most cases, being late is not an option. The individual who manages these projects must understand these issues and know who to work with and how to work with them in order to get through the construction process.
